Under the Sea

Unique Opportunities in South Walton – Under the Sea!

Did you know the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) in partnership with the South Walton Artificial Reef Association (SWARA) established the Underwater Museum of Art (UMA) in 2018? Entering its fourth year of sculpture deployments, UMA selects works from artisans from all over the world. It is North America’s first underwater permanent sculpture exhibit! Located in a seabed one mile off Grayton Beach State Park, UMA provides a sustainable marine habitat for a variety of fish and sealife populations. While this “museum” does not require an entry fee, to visit you do have to be an open-water certified SCUBA diver. Several local businesses offer turn-key certification processes that can be completed in a week or two. With the recent creation of unique amenities such as UMA, South Walton has even more fun to soak up!
